Badenweiler – experience the region

Not least for the reasons mentioned above, many well-known artists have chosen to stay in this town. The painter Emil Bizer and the writer René Schickele have stayed here. Also Gabriele Wohmann and Herrmann Hesse have written about their stays in their literary work! The actor Charles Regnier chose to have his last resting place in this town and he is buried in the cemetery on Lipburger Straße.

This is why the town is also well-known as the “Tuscany of the Breisgau area”. So not surprisingly all the restaurants and cafés welcome their guests with a generally very attractive outdoor area where you can sit and enjoy chatting! Badenweiler sets the pulse of hikers, bikers and fitness lovers racing as there are plenty of opportunities for them here. For all those who are not that keen on sports, the culinary appeal of Badenweiler will be more important, and every taste is catered for. Badenweiler has also a lot to offer to enthusiasts of architecture. Baden Castle, Belvedere and not least the ruins of the Romans Baths are exciting prospects. Leisure activities have top priority here and therefore Badenweiler has plenty to offer in this respect. The Cassiopeia thermal swimming pool complex, the sports and leisure pools, various outings as well as mountain bike trails and tennis courts round off the picture of Badenweiler. You can also play golf in the Markgräfler Land area!
Outings
Numerous tourist destinations are within easy reach of Badenweiler. Just to mention some of these: Mounts Hochblauen and Belchen, the towns of Colmar, Mulhouse and Basel and last but not least Alsace with its many “Straußwirtschaften” (seasonal wine taverns) and restaurants. The nearest airport is Euro-Airport Basel-Mulhouse. The nearest train station in Müllheim is easily accessible by bus, which you can use free of charge with your guest card.
